Senior Business Analyst - Functional
Our client is building a Romanian delivery team to take over the development, maintenance and evolution of several applications. The Business Analyst will work directly with the stakeholders, existing application teams, developers, testers and external application partners.
The application portfolio supports telecom network and service-management processes, including:
- Network equipment and service inventories;
- Data exchanges between telecom applications;
- Configuration and workflow management;
- Application integrations using APIs, messaging systems and file transfers;
- Functional and technical modernization, including move-to-cloud initiatives;
- Maintenance and evolution of both modern and legacy applications.
- Collect, analyze and clarify business and operational requirements with the stakeholders.
- Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories and clear acceptance criteria.
- Understand existing business processes, telecom network concepts and application workflows.
- Analyze the functional impact of changes across interconnected applications.
- Identify dependencies, assumptions, risks and impacts on data, interfaces and downstream systems.
- Facilitate workshops with business representatives, application owners, developers and external partners.
- Prepare functional studies and contribute to impact assessments and macro-estimations with technical leads.
- Maintain and priorities the functional backlog.
- Support developers throughout implementation and clarify functional questions.
- Review delivered functionality and ensure alignment with the original business need.
- Support the QA team in defining test scenarios and expected results.
- Participate in user acceptance testing and release-readiness activities.
- Analyze functional incidents and support complex user or production issues.
- Contribute to application documentation and knowledge transfer during the transition phase.
- Support move-to-cloud and application-modernization studies from a functional perspective.
- Communicate progress, risks and decisions clearly to French-speaking stakeholders.
For the applications, functional activities currently include requirement translation, creation of user stories, pre-studies, impact analysis, functional support and acceptance testing. The applications also contain considerable telecom business logic, particularly around network and service inventories.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst or Proxy Product Owner.
- Experience working on technically complex enterprise applications.
- Strong experience in requirements gathering, functional analysis and specification writing.
- Ability to write user stories, functional requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Experience analyzing integrations and end-to-end data flows.
- Good understanding of APIs, messaging, batch/file exchanges and databases from a functional perspective.
- Ability to work closely with developers and technical architects.
- Experience with Agile delivery and backlog-management practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously in a distributed, international environment.
- French: minimum B2, ideally C1, including the ability to facilitate workshops and write professional documentation.
- English: working proficiency.
Strongly preferred
- Experience in the telecommunications sector, particularly network-management, OSS, provisioning, inventory or service-management applications.
- Understanding of telecom network equipment, network services and network-related data models.
- Experience with complex application ecosystems involving multiple partners.
- Ability to use SQL to investigate or validate application data.
- Experience supporting production incidents or functional level-three support.
- Experience with application transition, knowledge transfer or service takeover.
- Familiarity with Java-based applications, Kafka, RabbitMQ, REST/SOAP APIs, CFT or similar integration technologies.
- Experience with application modernization or cloud-migration projects.
