Diagnostic Tester (AOV/MOV) – Nuclear
The Diagnostic Tester is responsible for performing advanced diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, calibration, and performance evaluation of Air Operated Valves (AOV) and Motor Operated Valves (MOV) within a nuclear power plant environment.
The role supports predictive and preventive maintenance programs by identifying equipment degradation, ensuring valve reliability, and maintaining compliance with nuclear safety requirements, OEM specifications, and international industry standards. The successful candidate will work closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams during outages, shutdowns, and routine maintenance activities.
Valve Diagnostic Testing
- Perform comprehensive diagnostic testing on Air Operated Valves (AOV) and Motor Operated Valves (MOV) using specialized diagnostic equipment and software.
- Conduct functional testing under simulated operating conditions to verify valve performance, integrity, and responsiveness.
- Perform leakage testing on safety and control valves to ensure compliance with operational and safety requirements.
- Validate actuator calibration and verify torque and thrust settings according to OEM specifications and applicable industry standards.
Troubleshooting & Technical Analysis
- Diagnose valve and actuator issues, including torque/thrust deviations, abnormal stroke times, and position feedback errors.
- Analyze diagnostic data to identify mechanical wear, equipment degradation, actuator misalignment, and potential failure mechanisms.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for valve-related failures.
- Support the development and implementation of corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
Maintenance Support
- Support predictive and preventive maintenance programs by monitoring valve condition and performance trends.
- Provide technical support during plant outages, shutdowns, turnarounds, and commissioning activities.
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and OEM representatives to resolve complex technical issues.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with approved procedures and nuclear quality requirements.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare detailed technical reports documenting diagnostic results, findings, and recommended corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate valve diagnostic records within asset management systems such as SAP, Maximo, or equivalent CMMS platforms.
- Ensure complete documentation for traceability, regulatory compliance, and future maintenance planning.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Perform all activities in accordance with nuclear safety standards, plant procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international standards, including API, ASME, and ISA.
- Follow all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures while promoting a strong nuclear safety culture.

- Bachelor's Degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control (I&C), Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Proven hands-on experience performing diagnostic testing on Air Operated Valves (AOV) and Motor Operated Valves (MOV).
- Experience working in a Nuclear Power Plant environment is mandatory.
- Previous experience supporting outages, shutdowns, or turnaround activities.
- Familiarity with predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (SAP, Maximo, or equivalent).
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of valve diagnostics, actuator performance, and valve maintenance.
- Experience with industry-standard valve diagnostic software and equipment.
- Ability to interpret diagnostic data and identify equipment degradation.
